Terms
Last updated 2 October 2026
These terms apply when you claim a numbered piece of the Own a Piece of the Internet wall at ownapieceoftheinternet.com (“the wall”), operated by Own a Piece of the Internet (“we”, “us”). By completing checkout you agree to them, along with our Advertising Policy, Refund Policy and Privacy Notice.
No performance guarantee. Buying a piece does not guarantee traffic, clicks, impressions, leads, sales, revenue, followers or any other advertising or business result. Wall statistics are shown for transparency and are not a forecast of what your piece will achieve.
1. What you are buying
You are buying a placement: one numbered square on a 100 × 100 grid that, once approved, displays your image, name, tagline and a link to your website. You do not acquire ownership of any part of our website, software, domain or intellectual property, and a piece is not an investment, token or financial product.
2. How a purchase works
- Selecting a piece places a temporary reservation (currently 15 minutes, extended while Stripe Checkout is open). Reservations expire automatically.
- Your purchase is only confirmed when Stripe confirms payment to us. A piece is never assigned on the strength of a browser redirect.
- Prices are shown in pounds sterling and are set per release (for example the Founding 100). The price you see when you reserve is the price you pay.
- If a payment arrives after your reservation has ended and the piece has been taken by someone else, we refund you in full.
3. Moderation
Every submission is reviewed before it goes live. We may reject content that does not meet the Advertising Policy. If we reject your submission, you can supply compliant replacement content or request a full refund, as described in the Refund Policy.
4. How long your piece stays on the wall
Your approved piece stays on the wall subject to these terms, for as long as we operate the service, on condition that it continues to comply with the Advertising Policy. We may suspend or remove a piece if its content or destination becomes unlawful, unsafe, misleading or otherwise non-compliant, including where a linked website changes after approval. We cannot promise that the service will run indefinitely; if we ever decide to close it, we will give reasonable notice on the site.
5. Your content
You confirm you own or have permission to use everything you submit, including logos, names and trade marks, and that your link points to a website you are entitled to promote. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, resize and reproduce your submission on the wall, on its share pages and preview images, and in materials that describe the wall (for example screenshots of the wall).
6. Changes to your piece
Requests to change an approved piece can be sent to hello@ownapieceoftheinternet.com. Changes are reviewed again under the Advertising Policy and we may decline or limit them.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Otherwise, our total liability to you in connection with a piece is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not responsible for the content of third-party websites linked from the wall.
8. Your statutory rights
If you are buying as a consumer, you have legal rights under UK consumer law. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers may also have the right to bring proceedings in their local courts.
